Ashlee Laing will
romp about in Melbourne's Western Suburbs garage with a new
installation, made just for The Rumpus Room, that references current
sociopolitical rhetoric. Ashlee is interested in the placement and
location of the individual, and of the collective, within the
construction of sociocultural spaces. In this new work he confronts the
audience with the ingrained cultural fear and bigotry that seems deeply
etched into the Australian landscape, constitution and psyche.
